DESCRIPTION:This Labour Day weekend\, Sunday September 2nd\, we will be joining with others at Marineland from 11 a.m til 3 p.m. Please join us on the right side of the fence! Folks were there in very strong numbers at the beginning of summer\, so let’s make it happen again! A CBC film crew (The Nature of Things) will be on hand again & working on a documentary to be released in the spring.\nSince the death of park owner John Holer\, there have been many questions and concerns regarding the future and fate of the animals and cetaceans still languishing inside Marineland\, Canada. Our voices are needed now more than ever.  Signs can be provided\, but you are welcome to make your own.

DESCRIPTION:The local group\, AWfAN is organizing a demo in respect of the horses used for carriage rides in Niagara on the Lake\, from 12 noon at the main intersection\, just outside the Prince of Wales Hotel\, Niagara-on-the-Lake. \nPlease join AWfAN – your help and presence would be much appreciated.  They will have literature to give out and some signs\, but if you can bring your own sign\, that would be helpful too. If you do make a sign\, try to relate it to the issue of horses being used this way and not just because of the heat….or another welfare issue. Horse carriage rides should be consigned to the dust bin of history and in this day and age there is no reason whatsoever for this form of ‘entertainment’.  If you have difficulty thinking of a phrase for your sign – let us know! \nPlease note:  AWfAN asks that there be no shouting or yelling because this can spook/frighten the horses. \nIf you can’t make it to the demo\, please consider emaling or contacting the councilors & mayor of Niagara-on-the-Lake. DESCRIPTION:NAfA is teaming up with AWfAN for another potluck dinner –  Monday May 21 at 5pm with dinner starting at 5:30pm.\nThe potluck will be held at 7 Gale Crescent in St.Catharines (opposite the Rex Stimers Arena). There is a buzzer on the left hand wall of the lobby as you enter; the buzzer rings into the lounge room so we can let you in. \nEveryone is welcome. However\, since most of the people attending are vegan and to ensure the greatest number of people can enjoy the food\, please make sure what you bring is vegan. If you have any questions or need some ideas\, please reach out and we can help you find a recipe or alternatives for the non vegan items. \nAn ingredient list and/or recipe would be appreciated for all items! This way those with allergies or sensitivities can make an informed decision about what to eat. \nPlease bring your own dishes\, cups and cutlery to this event. This will save on waste and make certain that no one is stuck in the kitchen doing dishes by hand. (There is no dishwasher.) \nThere is a microwave and stove if needed. \nPlease make sure to let us know what food items you are bringing.
