Purple Poppy Pins
October 27 @ 8:00 am - November 4 @ 5:00 pm
Remember the animals with a purple poppy.
Animals used in wars are not heroes; they are victims. They do not give their lives; their lives are taken. Animals have been used in wars as messengers, for mine and bomb detection & scouting. They were tasked with carrying machinery & men and sent to the battlegrounds. Animals who lived in areas of combat were also caught up as victims of wars, not of their own making and over which they had no control.
On Remembrance Day and as part of the 8th year of NAfA’s purple poppy campaign, we want to remember these hidden victims of war by once again offering members and friends a purple poppy to wear alongside the traditional red one, in memory of the millions of animals who were (and are still) used and often killed in war.
This year NAfA has a limited number of metal poppy pins (as pictured) and will give one to anyone who would like one. Just email us at nafa9@sympatico.ca or call us on either 905-682-4970 or 905-688-5749. Give us your name and address, including postal code and we’ll pop one into the mail for you.
